Stuart Shaw

RLJ Entertainment July 24 announced it has hired Stuart Shaw to be managing director of RLJ International, overseeing licensing and distribution. He replaces Paul Holland, who had been managing the United Kingdom office since 2006.

Shaw most recently was the director of international sales and marketing for Miramax in London. He managed their international home entertainment business and the distribution of content to linear channels and digital platforms.

Meanwhile, Lesley Fromant, managing director of RLJE Australia, is retiring Jan. 15, 2015, following 20 years with the company. Shaw will assume the position in addition to overseeing all of RLJE’s distribution business outside of North America.

Fromant founded both the Acorn Media U.K. division and Acorn Media Australia, now RLJE Australia.

“Lesley and Paul have been instrumental in growing RLJ Entertainment internationally, and we are excited to have Stuart continue to build on their work. Stuart’s expertise and relationships in the digital and international areas will be key in growing the RLJE International business. Stuart has an outstanding reputation as an experienced, driven, and energetic senior executive and is an ideal fit with our corporate culture,” CEO Miguel Penella said in a statement.

Shaw reports to Penella and will be based in London, sharing office space with sister division Acorn Productions, headed by Hilary Strong.

RLJ was formed in 2012 following the acquisitions of Image Entertainment and Acorn Media Group by BET founder Robert L. Johnson.
