RLJ Entertainment May 6 has promoted Mark Ward to SVP of acquisitions for Image brands, and Nina Henderson Moore to president of its urban brand, according to CEO Miguel Penella.
RLJ Entertainment owns Image Entertainment and Acorn Media Group.
For the past four years, Ward has been instrumental in obtaining cast-driven, under-the-radar feature films for distribution on packaged media, VOD and television for Image.
Key Ward acquisitions include Stephen Sommer’s Odd Thomas, based on the novel by Dean Koontz; The Colony with Laurence Fishburne, Bill Paxton and Kevin Zegers; Diablo Cody’s directorial debut Paradise with Julianne Hough, Russell Brand and Octavia Spencer; Devil’s Knot with Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth; Australian horror film Wolf Creek 2; and Nicholas Cage’s Rage.
Before Image, Ward was VP of acquisitions for Anchor Bay Entertainment.
Moore joined RLJ Entertainment last July as president of its urban digital channel. In her new role, she will oversee all content development and acquisitions for RLJ’s urban brand, including the upcoming launch of its proprietary digital channel as well as content for to be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and other formats.
Prior to joining RLJE, Moore served as president of Griot Productions, where she produced Woman Art Loosed: On the 7th Day, starring Blair Underwood and Sharon Leal; and The Hot Flashes starring Brooke Shields, Daryl Hannah, Virginia Madsen, Camryn Manheim and Wanda Sykes. Prior to Griot, she was EVP for news, public affairs and program acquisitions at Black Entertainment Television, and held the position of president and COO at BET Pictures.
