Paramount Pictures has quickly announced a replacement for Dennis Maguire as president of Worldwide Home Media Distribution.

The studio promoted from within, giving the top spot in its home entertainment division to Bob Buchi, a 20-year industry vet who previously served as the studio’s EVP of worldwide marketing. He will report to Megan Colligan, Paramount’s president of worldwide distribution and marketing.

“Within an ever-evolving home media landscape, Bob’s proven track record of success across a diverse portfolio of theatrical releases, acquisitions, family and television product makes him the ideal person to lead our team as we continue to strive for even greater creativity and innovation,” Colligan said in a statement.

Buchi joined Paramount in 2006 and most recently oversaw the brand, retail and digital marketing teams. According to Paramount, “he has also built strong and collaborative relationships with some of the studio’s most valuable partners, including DreamWorks Animation, Lucasfilm, CBS and MTVN.”

The studio also announced that Peter Giannascoli, SVP of marketing for Paramount Home Media Distribution, is expanding his role to include oversight of all aspects of worldwide marketing. In addition to Giannascoli, Buchi’s senior global team includes Gaspare Benso, GM of International Home Media Distribution, who will oversee the transition of Paramount’s international physical distribution to Universal, as previously announced. His domestic team of senior executives includes Jeff Hastings, SVP of domestic sales; Tripp Wood, SVP of digital sales amd distribution; Howard Hsieh, VP of business development and strategic analysis; and Ryan Stouffer, SVP of VMI and operations.

Maguire left the company in March in a restructuring. He had headed Paramount Home Media Distribution since the division was created in 2011. Maguire, one of the many top home entertainment executives mentored by Bill Mechanic and Ann Daly at Walt Disney Studios, joined Paramount in 2006 as president of Paramount Home Entertainment International in 2006 and three years later became president of Paramount Home Entertainment. He came to Paramount after 23 years with Disney.
