4K UHD streaming service March 16 announced its app is now available on smart televisions from Chinese manufacturer Hisense and Japan’s Sharp. The app is also available on select Samsung, Sony, and Vizio models.

UltraFlix, which is owned by San Jose, Calif.-based NanoTech Entertainment, has a library of more than 1,000 hours of 4K movies licensed from Paramount Pictures, MGM, Alchemy, Magnolia Pictures and Warner Bros., in addition to select TV shows from AMC Networks.

The company said placement of its app with additional TV makers underscores growing consumer demand for the next-generation high-definition format.

“Shipments of 4K UHD TVs surpassed expectations in 2015, reaching 6 million units in North America, with forecasts to double to 12 million units in 2016, according to data just released by DisplaySearch/IHS,” Aaron Taylor, VP of sales and marketing at NanoTech, said in a statement. “Together with Hisense, we will be opening up premium viewing experiences to both the cost, and quality-conscious markets.”
