Roku 4K UHD TVs to Debut at Best Buy in April

Roku March 10 announced its brand of Chinese-made 4K UHD televisions will be available beginning next month exclusively at Best Buy.

Manufactured under Best Buy’s Insignia brand, the 4K UHD Roku TVs feature the streaming media device manufacturer’s operating system (Roku OS) providing access to more than 3,000 streaming channel apps, including more than 10 channels offer 4K UHD content.

The 4K UHD Roku TVs have a bezel design and include Roku’s 4K Spotlight Channel and 4K UHD category within the Roku Channel Store. The models are available in 43-inch ($400), 50-inch ($500) and 55-inch ($650) screen sizes and equipped with a quad-core processor and 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi to ensure a smooth 4K UHD streaming experience. The 4K UHD Roku TV models comply with the Consumer Technology Association certification requirements to bear CTA’s 4K Ultra HD Connected logo.

The 4K UHD Roku TVs can be controlled with the intuitive remote control or through the free Roku Mobile App for iOS and Android. Consumers can use the Roku Mobile App to access features such as the Roku Feed, Play On Roku — to share personal video, photos and music, directly from a mobile device to the Roku TV — and voice search. In addition, consumers can cast video from the Netflix and YouTube mobile apps to the TV.

Roku first launched a series of Chinese-made branded TVs from Hisense and TCL in 2014.

“Customer response to the HD Insignia Roku TV models has been tremendous and we expect that same enthusiasm … as consumers look for a great 4K UHD smart TV,” Chas Smith, SVP and GM of Roku TV & Players, said in a statement.

The 4K UHD Insignia Roku TVs are also available in 43-inch and 50-inch sizes at Best Buy stores in Canada and on BestBuy.ca.
