By 2015 more than 200 million Americans will own a smartphone, a tablet or both, making portable entertainment available to more than two-thirds of the country, according to a new report from In-Stat.
“To track the use of mobile devices for entertainment purposes, In-Stat has introduced a unique research service called the U.S. Multiscreen Video Database,” said Keith Nissen, In-Stat’s research director. “The U.S. Multiscreen Video Database quantifies consumption and interaction with video entertainment on mobile devices both outside and inside the home.”
In-Stat’s projections have 86% of smartphone and tablet users watching video on their devices, and 60% of owners viewing over-the-top video at home.
