A 'Hunger' for More Sales
21 Aug, 2012 By: John LatchemWhile The Hunger Games continues to dominate shelf space, retailers are using promotions to highlight other titles as well.
At least two retailers, Best Buy and Amazon.com, offered Paramount’s new The Dictator with exclusive packaging. Amazon presented The Dictator for as low as $14.99 via its instant video service.
Other Best Buy deals included a $10 gift card to customers who spent $50 or more on TV titles on DVD or Blu-ray; a buy-two-get-one-free deal on relatively recent Blu-ray movies from Sony Pictures, such as Moneyball and Zombieland, offered at $14.99 each; and an exclusive DVD of The 50 Greatest Finishing Moves in WWE History, offered at $16.99.
Best Buy also offered $10 off with purchase of any two of the newest crop of Disney Blu-rays, a line-up that includes new release Chimpanzee and catalog titles The Aristocats, Lady and the Tramp II, The Rescuers, Pocahontas and The Tigger Movie.
Target offered a $5 instant savings with the joint purchase of The Hunger Games on disc and any “Hunger Games” book.
