Crossing the 'Terminator'
28 Aug, 2012 By: John LatchemAs summer begins to fade away and studios release better titles heading into autumn, retailers are following suit.
Best Buy brought out a few titles it offered exclusively, such as the new School of Rock Blu-ray from Paramount Home Media Distribution at $12.99, and an attractive $34.99 Blu-ray boxed set of the four “Terminator” films, brought together for the first time — as the films are distributed by different studios (the original is controlled by MGM, T2 is controlled by Lionsgate and the latter two are owned by Warner; the spine carried a Warner logo).
Exclusives on wide-release titles at Best Buy included an exclusive bonus disc with the Battleship Blu-ray combo pack, offering more than 30 minutes of behind-the-scenes video; and a $4.99 beanie cap with the purchase of Sons of Anarchy: Season Four.
Target offered the new Blu-ray combo pack of The Pirates! Band of Misfits with a bandana and 20 minutes of interactive features. Target also offered the first season of Disney’s “Once Upon a Time” with an exclusive cover and Q&A with the cast. Target also packed the first season of “Homeland” with a Q&A with the creators and cast.
