YouTube Tests Live Streaming Platform

15 Sep, 2010 By: Billy Gil

YouTube in a blog post Sept. 12 said it had begun testing a live-streaming platform to gives its viewers online access to events as they happen.

The Google-owned top online video destination tested its live streaming from Sept. 12-13, in conjunction with partners Howcast, Next New Networks, Rocketboom and Young Hollywood. The platform would integrate live streaming directly into YouTube channels, with broadcasters needing only a webcam or external USB/FireWire camera to stream live and the ability to engage with the YouTube community in the “Live Comments” module.
