Online research firm comScore reported June 24 that YouTube hit an all-time high with 14.6 billion videos viewed and a record 100 videos viewed per user during the month of May.
The news came a day after a U.S. District Court judge threw out Viacom’s three-year, $1 billion copyright infringement suit against Google-owned YouTube.
More than 183 million American Internet users watched a total of 34 billion Internet videos in May, with Google-owned sites representing 32.1% of all videos viewed. Google video sites attracted 144.6 million unique viewers. Hulu came in second with 1.2 billion videos, or 3.5%. Microsoft sites were third with 642 million videos (1.9%).
Internet video viewers watched an average of 186 videos each during the month.
