YouTube Available on Select Samsung Blu-ray Players
4 Sep, 2009 By: Chris TribbeySamsung’s BD-P1600, BD-P3600 and BD-P4600 Blu-ray Disc players now include YouTube. Owners of the players can upload the service for free starting Sept. 4.
The service will be similar to regular Internet access of the popular Google-owned video site, with videos organized by rating or popularity. LG Electronics Blu-ray players are some that also handle YouTube.
YouTube also will be coming to select Blu-ray integrated home theater systems (HT-BD1250, HT-BD7200, HT-BD8200, HT-BD3252), the company said. No date for that has been set yet.
"Adding YouTube to our latest Blu-ray players underscores our commitment to giving consumers even more ways to access and enjoy a broad variety of high quality content,” said Reid Sullivan, SVP of DAV and DI Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “It is a priority for us to continually innovate when it comes to defining what connected TV experiences can deliver, whether it’s watching a Blu-ray movie or streaming content from Netflix, Pandora and now YouTube. This partnership is another example of how we’re working to deliver maximum value and take the home entertainment experience to the next level.”
Samsung will show off the service Sept. 10-13 at the CEDIA conference in Atlanta.
