Consumers Asked Where Film Should Screen

1 Jun, 2011 By: Chris Tribbey

The user-generated YouTube documentary Life in a Day will be released nationwide July 29, but first Cinedigm Digital Cinema and National Geographic Entertainment are asking fans where the film should premiere July 24, the one-year anniversary of when the film was shot.

Life in a Day asked YouTube users to record their days July 24, 2010, with director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) and executive producer Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Blade Runner) turning the 80,000-plus submissions into a feature-length documentary.

A select number of theaters will host a live Q&A with the filmmakers on the anniversary, with fans asked to vote at lifeinaday.cinedigm.com.

Life in a Day is a wonderful opportunity to hear the voices of extraordinary people describing the world as they see it — telling us their fears and loves,” Macdonald said. “I always knew this would say something fascinating about who we are as a species and what we value — but I never realized how emotionally affecting the result would be.”
