Warner Home Video Aug. 28 (order date July 24) will release all three extended editions of Peter Jackson's “Lord of the Rings” films on Blu-ray individually for the first time.
The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy: Extended Edition will precede the December theatrical release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
The five-disc Blu-ray singles — The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King — ($34.99 each, presented as two-disc sets) contain nearly nine hours of bonus material.
Special features include a behind-the-scenes documentary created by Costa Botes, the filmmaker that Jackson gave exclusive access to the set of each production; commentaries with the filmmakers, cast and crew; featurettes and more.
A boxed set of the extended trilogy was released in June 2011.
