Online video service Vimeo has picked up 13 films from the Toronto International Film Festival, all of which will make their exclusive digital debut via VOD on Vimeo in 2014.
The films will debut sporadically starting March 21 through May, and viewers will be able to access the films by purchasing them directly from Vimeo On Demand or from an embedded Vimeo player in places where the trailer is hosted.
“Vimeo is the quality open platform for creators to distribute directly to their audiences,” said Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor. “The breadth of subjects and number of countries represented by these accomplished filmmakers shows just how powerful the direct distribution movement is becoming worldwide.”
The films Vimeo will debut include Asphalt Watches, Cinemanovels, Empire of Dirt, Faroeste Caboclo, Gente en Sitios, Ladder to Damascus, Little Feet, Palestine Stereo, Standing Aside Watching, The Animal Project, This is Sanlitun, Une Jeune Fille and Wild Duck.
Vimeo on Demand launched in March 2013 and now includes more than 5,000 films, with the filmmakers setting prices, geographic availability and viewing formats.
