Roku Streaming Al-Jazeera In English

Roku, which helped launch Netflix’s streaming business in 2008, Feb. 1 said it is now offering live and repurposed streams in English from Al-Jazeera, the Arab-based news network. The free streams are available via Roku’s Newscaster Channel. ().
Saratoga, Calif.-based Roku, which last month streamed its 1 billionth unit of content, markets a series of media players that connect the Internet with the TV, starting from $59.99.
To differentiate itself from connected TVs, other media players and Web-enabled Blu-ray Disc players, Roku players offer myriad content channels and apps, in addition to transactional Amazon VOD movies and subscription-based Hulu Plus, MLB.TV, NHL Game Center and NBA Game Time, among others.
Roku also announced it launched “The Jay at Maverick’s” channel (), dedicated to streaming live and repurposed surfing events from around the world.
