NPD: Games Sales Slightly Down in September

Total sales of new video games, hardware and accessories fell 6% in September to $1.1 billion, compared with $1.23 billion during the previous-year period, according to new data from The NPD Group.
Specifically, console hardware sales dropped 9% to $349 million from $383 million, while games accessories fell 14% to $154.8 million from $180.8 million last year.
The lone bright point: New games sales of console and portable increased 3% to $630.2 million from $612.1 million last year.
Total new games sales for console, portable and PC declined 1% to $653.2 million, compared with $662.1 million last year.
