Game Sales Down 10% in June

Total video game sales were down 10% in June over June 2010, down to $1.03 billion from $1.15 billion a year ago, according to data from The NPD Group.

All major sectors of game sales were down, with hardware down 9% (to $366.6 million), software down 12% (to $469.5 million) and accessories down 11% (to $158.9 million).

This follows a 14% drop in total game sales in May compared with May 2010, according to NPD.

The top-selling games in the month were L.A. Noire (Xbox 360, PS3), from Take 2 Interactive, followed by Duke Nukem Forever (360, PS3, PC), also from Take 2, and Infamous 2 (PS3), from Sony, at No. 3.
