Comcast, EA Partner for Video Games

Comcast and Electronic Arts July 14 announced a partnership to develop a new service that brings high-definition video gaming to the television via the cable giant’s broadband-based X1 set-top box.
The service would enable X1 subscribers to control the games using their smartphones or tablets as remote controllers. Similar to the just announced “Stream” over-the-top video service, the video games are streamed over the Internet to subs’ X1 boxes and count under any Xfinity Internet data plan.
X1 subs can sign up to beta-test the service at Xfinitygames.com.
The No. 1 cable operator said it is partnering with other content holders for future X1-centeric entertainment.
