Stars Align For 'Terminator'

29 Jul, 2008 By: Fred Topel

The complete first season of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” comes to DVD and Blu-ray Disc Aug. 19 from Warner Home Video, just in time for viewers to catch up before season two begins. The show's stars, Thomas Dekker and Summer Glau, who play John Connor and his Terminator protector, respectively, participated in the extra features for the collection.

“We did a lot of extras,” Glau said. “We do commentary. I'm really excited about it. I think people are going to like it a lot.”

Dekker filmed a movie between seasons in which he plays a cancer victim. He filmed his interviews before his John Connor hair grew back.

“I do a bunch of interviews with the shaved head and no eyebrows so I kind of look like Powder, out of nowhere, talking about the show,” Dekker said. “It's a little embarrassing.”

Recording an episode commentary actually fulfilled one of Dekker's dreams.

“I loved it,” he said. “I've always wanted to do a commentary.”

Glau, however, is a commentary veteran.

“I've done commentary on Serenity, Firefly, but this was really fun,” she said. “The cast got together. It was a good time.”

More cast bonding may be visible on the gag reel, according to Dekker.

“You have a gag reel on it of us f***ing around,” he said. “We have everything on it.”

Deleted scenes may show fans some details omitted from final broadcasts.

“I think every scene is significant,” Glau said. “So I think the fans are really going to enjoy it.”

The Blu-ray edition also will bring fans a new level of visual detail. Dekker saw the episode “Dungeons & Dragons,” in which Derek Reese (Brian Austin Green) flashes forward to the future war with machines, while he recorded his commentary track.

“The whole ‘Dungeons & Dragons' episode in the future looks great on Blu-ray because it's just crazy,” Dekker said.
