Entertainment One Has New 'Titanic' Miniseries

5 Mar, 2012 By: John Latchem

Entertainment One will release Blu-ray and DVD editions of a new four-part miniseries marking the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

As with previous productions about the subject, the production is dubbed simply Titanic and dramatizes the ship’s doomed maiden voyage from April 10-15, 1912. The miniseries, which stars Toby Jones and Linus Roach, airs on ABC starting April 14. The script was written by Oscar and Emmy winner Julian Fellowes (“Downton Abbey”).

On April 24 (order date March 27), eOne will release the miniseries as a two-DVD set at $29.98, a two-disc Blu-ray at $34.98 and a three-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack at $39.98.

Extras include a making-of featurette, a behind-the-production featurette, a photo gallery and the documentary The Curse of the Titanic Sisters.

The release joins several other tie-ins commemorating the centennial, most notably Criterion’s re-release of 1958’s A Night to Remember on DVD and Blu-ray March 27, Fox's Blu-ray release of 1953's Titanic, and a 3D version of James Cameron’s 1997 recount Titanic hitting theaters April 6.
