Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Partners With Hollywood Studios

23 Sep, 2014

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is teaming up with Hollywood studios, led by NBCUniversal and Sony Pictures Entertainment, to initiate a comprehensive fourth-quarter fundraising campaign that kicks off Sept. 23 with the launch of an online sweepstakes.

The Crowdwise-hosted sweepstakes — launched during Hunger Action Month — will run through Dec. 31 and will randomly award prizes each week to participating donors and volunteers, including unique or one-of-a-kind experiences and an extensive list of items donated by the studios and local businesses.

Supporters can visit the L.A. Food Bank’s fundraising page at or .

Additionally, on Saturday, Sept. 27, the Food Bank will host its inaugural “Studio Volunteer Day,” drawing hundreds from the entertainment industry for a morning of service from Sony, Universal and The Walt Disney Company, among others.

The announcement marks the first in a series of fourth-quarter initiatives by the Food Bank and a studio-based volunteer team comprised of members from the marketing and philanthropy departments of Sony Pictures Entertainment and NBCUniversal. The project was facilitated through the Taproot Foundation, which helps drive social change by engaging professionals in pro bono service.

“The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is excited to launch this online fundraising campaign,” commented Eli Lipmen, director of marketing and communications for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. “Every dollar raised will provide four meals for hungry people in Los Angeles County. We are grateful for the support of the Taproot Foundation and the entertainment industry, especially the pro bono teams from Sony Pictures Entertainment and NBCUniversal, whose volunteerism and commitment will help us fulfill our mission to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.”
