Warner Licenses TV Catalog to Verizon Go90

3 Apr, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Verizon April 3 announced a license agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution making the former’s go90 mobile streaming video service home for catalog TV series “Almost Human,” “Babylon 5,” “Believe,” “Fringe,” “Stalker,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” and “Veronica Mars.” Some series will begin to stream April 4.

“This order represents our commitment to a data-driven programming strategy that marries popular traditional series with our originals and organizes them into four to five key audience-specific networks as a way to super-serve our audiences,” Chip Canter, GM of Verizon digital entertainment, said in a statement.

Canter said the license agreement would help ad-supported go90 attract new users.

“This is a great opportunity to continue to double down on a genre that’s performed well for go90 and attract users who may be discovering [mobile streaming video] for the first time.”

Users can watch all series exclusively at www.Go90.com or the go90 app available for iOS and Android.

“We anticipate these series will expand and build on go90’s fast-growing user base,” Ken Werner, president of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, said in a statement.

Go90 is currently streaming more than 30,000 hours of scripted originals, live sports and best-of-primetime videos. The service reportedly plans to stream 52 original series by the end of the year.

Last year the service hired former YouTube executive Ivana Kirkbride as chief content officer.

All seven shows are available on DVD and/or Blu-ray Disc.
