Amazon UK and French movie producer Studiocanal Oct. 8 announced they have extended their subscription streaming agreement for new-release movies and catalog in the United Kingdom and Germany.

The expanded Studiocanal deal affords Amazon Prime pay-TV exclusivity to Lionsgate’s upcoming franchise installments The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2, Non-Stop with Liam Neeson, and pending family releases Paddington and Shaun the Sheep Movie — the latter three co-produced by Studiocanal.

The agreement also includes catalog titles such as Apocalypse Now and the John le Carré adaptation Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, among others.

Amazon originally operated by-mail disc rental and streaming in Germany through its LoveFilm (now Amazon Prime Instant Video) subsidiary, and is hoping to stay ahead of Netflix, which just launched streaming service in Germany and five other European countries.

"The extension of our partnership with Studiocanal is dedicated to our ongoing efforts to prime customers to provide an even wider selection of very recent movies,” Christoph Schneider, managing director of Amazon Instant Video in Germany, said in a statement.
