Sling TV Available on Amazon Fire Tablets
31 Aug, 2015 By: Erik GruenwedelSling TV Aug. 31 announced it released an app for Amazon Fire HD and HDX tablets, thereby making the over-the-top video service available on all Fire devices, including Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The Sling TV app can be downloaded from the Amazon App store.
The Fire HD and Fire HDX tablets are the latest Sling TV supported devices following Google’s Nexus Player, current-generation Roku players and Roku TV models, Xbox One, iOS and Android devices, Mac and PC.
“With the introduction of Sling TV on Amazon Fire HD and HDX tablets, millions of Amazon customers can now access their entertainment in and outside of the home,” Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch said in a statement.
Separately, Sling said it traced (and solved) the source of a technical problem that contributed to select subscribers being unable to stream the premier episode of AMC Networks’ “Fear of the Walking Dead” on Aug. 23.
“One of our mobile apps was making high-load calls on a key database. This is typically not much of a concern given the huge processing capacity built into our system; however, a caching error compounded the issue and added previously unseen processing cycles that interrupted the service for some,” the Sling TV technical support team blogged Aug. 28.
