Shout! Factory Ties 'Bushido Man' Web Series to Disc Release

Indie distributor Shout! Factory is chopping up its action comedy Bushido Man: Seven Deadly Battles into an eight-episode Web series, to help promote the June 10 DVD, Blu-ray Disc and Digital HD release of the film.

The digital Web series “Bushido Man” will debut May 26 via via ShoutFactory.com and Shout! Factory's YouTube channel, before and in conjunction with the June 10 DVD, Blu-ray Disc and Digital HD release of Bushido Man: Seven Deadly Battles.

“The Web series and the feature film tell the same story, but in the style that is conducive to the audience and the medium,” said Gene Pao, VP of digital media at Shout! Factory. “Whereas the feature film tells the story within the setting of a two-hour movie presentation, the Web series is faster paced, and tells the story through a series of three to four minute segments.”

He said the Web series doesn’t replace packaged media, but complements it.

“The Web series is meant to highlight the action scenes and key parts of the film that can be enjoyed over and over,” he said. “'Bushido Man’ presents a unique opportunity to experiment with storytelling on two very different types of media, and we believe that fans will enjoy both versions.”
