Report: Visits to Movie Sites Grew 21% in December

There were 43.8 million visitors to movie sites during the month of December, a 21% month-to-month growth, according to a Jan. 23 report from online tracking firm comScore.
Netflix.com led the way with 34.7 million visitors, a 31% jump over November, with Redbox.com coming in a distant second at 5.3 million. Blockbuster saw a 7% jump over November with 3.6 million visitors, while Walmart’s Vudu enjoyed 1.6 million visitors.
“The holiday shopping season continued with strong momentum in December as Americans worked to cross everyone off of their list in time for the holidays,” said comScore EVP Jeff Hackett.
Overall, Google-owned sites ranked No. 1 during December, in terms of overall visitors, with 187.1 million. Microsoft was second, with 177.3 million visitors, while Yahoo! was third, at 176.5 million.
