5 Mar, 2014 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Screen Media Ventures has launched its ad-supported Popcornflix free movie streaming service in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand,  Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

The largely catalog (with some new releases) film slate is available on the , Samsung connected TVs and the Popcornflix Android and iOS apps. Users can also watch movies on the Popcornflix channel for Roku and Google TV. Genres include action/thrillers, comedy, drama, family/kids, horror, and Bollywood, among others.

“International expansion is the future of our company. Because we own our own content, Popcornflix is well-positioned to launch this program [globally],” David Fannon, EVP of New York-based Popcornflix, said in a statement. “Movie fans love to watch films on their own schedule, and now we’re able to offer original films to new audiences on a wide range of devices.”
