15 Apr, 2014 By: Chris Tribbey

The Criterion Collection and Hulu have extended their multiyear agreement that gives Hulu Plus exclusive streaming rights to content from the New York-based company.

Since 2011 Criterion Collection has distributed more than 800 films and extra features from its collection on the Hulu Plus subscription service, including films from Akira Kurosawa, Jean Cocteau, Federico Fellini, Ingmar Bergman and Alfred Hitchcock.

“In line with our mission to present the defining moments of cinema for a wider and wider audience, Criterion and Hulu Plus together will continue to create a destination to drive discovery and appreciation of some of the greatest films from around the world,” Hulu wrote in a blog post.

The Oscar-winning 2013 Italian film The Great Beauty is among the new Criterion films available exclusively via Hulu Plus.
