Fox Sports App to Stream Super Bowl

23 Jan, 2014 By: Chris Tribbey

The Feb. 2 Fox broadcast of Super Bowl XLVIII between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos on Fox will also be available as a free, live, ad-supported stream via the Fox Sports Go app, the network announced.

In addition to being the first time the big game is streamed using an app, it will also be streamed for the first time in Spanish. Fox wants to use the occasion to showcase what the app is capable of, offering access to content from the app from early Feb. 2 through early Feb. 3 for free.

After Feb. 3, subscribers of participating pay-TV providers can access live games and events using the app year round.

“We’re giving all fans the ability to watch the biggest game of the year wherever they go,” said Eric Shanks, president and COO of Fox Sports. “We’re also making the mobile experience more user friendly by streaming the game through Fox Sports Go and adding the Fox Deportes stream for our Spanish-speaking audience.”

The app will work with iPads and desktops, but not mobile phones or Android-based devices.
