Flixster Video Ceasing Code Redemptions

28 Aug, 2017 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Flixster Video, the download and streaming service operated by online movie app Flixster.com, is no longer offering redemption of digital copy codes as of Aug. 28. The move does not affect Flixster.com.

In a post to users, Flixster said it would no longer support code redemption or streaming and downloading of content. It cited circumstances “beyond our control” related to the unexpected shutdown of a “critical vendor.”

Flixster said users would be able to redeem digital codes and access UltraViolet movie collections by linking with Walmart-owned Vudu.com and FandangoNow.com.

“Using their services should solve the issues you currently have with Flixster Video,” Flixster said on its page.

Fandango in 2016 bought Warner Bros.-owned Flixster and rating service Rotten Tomatoes in an equity deal that made the studio a minority owner of the ticket service.

A representative from Fandango was not immediately available for comment.
