Acorn Media’s streaming service now is available on the Roku player, with a free 30-day trial offered to new subscribers.
Acorn TV streaming focuses solely on British TV content and first launched in July 2011. The service streams a full season of 10 classic and contemporary series, including “Upstairs, Downstairs,” “Midsomer Murders,” “Queer as Folk,” “Touching Evil,” “Murdoch Mysteries,” “Cadfael,” “Trial & Retribution,” “Lillie,” “The Last Detective” and “Blue Murder.”
The first episode of each series is free, with Acorn Premium subscribers paying $24.99 a year for unlimited access. Premium members also receive free shipping on orders from AcornOnline.com. Beginning June 1, Acorn will sell a Roku 2 HD player with a one-year Acorn Premium membership for $59.99.
