Sony’s ‘Underworld: Awakening’ BD Goes Behind the 3D

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s May 8 release of Underworld: Awakening includes previsualization 3D sequences exclusive to the 3D Blu-ray ($45.99).

The sequences helped filmmakers visualize some of the key action sequences in the film, which stars Kate Beckinsale as a warrior leading the side of both vampires and werewolf-like Lycans in a battle against humanity, which seeks to eradicate both races. The movie is the fourth in a series that includes Underworld, Underworld: Evolution and Underwold: Rise of the Lycans, which were released in a three-movie Blu-ray set in December.

The 3D Blu-ray also includes access to an UltraViolet copy of the film. Both the 3D Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray Disc ($35.99) include a filmmaker commentary, blooper reel, “Heavy Prey” music video by Lacey Sturm featuring Geno Lenardo, and five behind-the-scenes featurettes. The standard Blu-ray also includes a picture-in-picture featurette. A DVD version ($30.99) includes the commentary.
