'Hatfields & McCoys' Coming July 31

The History Channel’s highly rated Hatfields & McCoys miniseries is coming to DVD and Blu-ray Disc July 31 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The three-part epic, which aired May 28 to 30, stars Kevin Costner as Anse “Devil” Hatfield and Bill Paxton as Randall McCoy, in the story of the legendary family feud that took place after the Civil War in West Virginia and Kentucky.

“I liked the script so much,” Costner said. “But I basically started to involve myself in the socio-economic questions of the day, which really inform you why things were happening. But I found the human nature to be very close to how I feel, you know, why people would’ve made the decisions they made.”

The cast also includes Matt Barr, Tom Berenger, Powers Boothe, Jena Malone and Mare Winningham.

The debut episode garnered more than 13.9 million viewers, making it the No. 1 non-sports telecast in ad-supported cable television history.

Extras on the two-disc DVD ($45.99) and Blu-ray ($55.99) include a music video for “I Know These Hills” by Costner and Modern West.
