‘Funny Girl’ Gets 45th Anniversary Blu-ray Release

Funny Girl, the film that gave Barbra Streisand her first starring role, arrives remastered in 4K on Blu-ray Disc April 30 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Streisand earned the Best Actress Oscar in 1968 for her portrayal of Fanny Brice in the musical biography, which highlighted the comedienne’s on-stage antics as well as her intense off-stage romance with dynamic gambler Nicky Arnstein.

Eight-time Academy Award-nominated Funny Girl co-stars Omar Sharif, Kay Medford, Anne Francis and Walter Pidgeon. The film features memorable songs such as “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” “My Man,” “Second Hand Rose” and “I’d Rather Be Blue Over You (Than Happy With Somebody Else).”

Bonus material includes two vintage featurettes: “Barbra in Movieland” and “This Is Streisand.” Funny Girl will be screened at the TCM Classic Film Festival April 25.
