Projections: Sales Chart Seeing Spots
16 Feb, 2015 By: John Latchem
Disney should score big the week ending Feb. 15, with two big new releases hitting shelves: a Blu-ray re-release of the classic animated 101 Dalmatians and the family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
The "Diamond Edition" re-releases of Disney classics have a habbit of topping the charts upon their debuts, though the fact they are generally Blu-ray-only releases does put them at a disadvantage compared with other new releases. That could be enough to put Alexander on top after the film's $66.9 million domestic box office run.
Another big release for the week is Universal's Nightcrawler, a buzz-inducing thriller that earned $32.4 million in U.S. theaters.
On the rental chart, Fox's Gone Girl comes off its 28-day holdback at Redbox and should move to the top of the chart, displacing the previous top rentals, Lionsgate's John Wick and Sony Pictures' Fury.
