Projections: Playing It 'Safe' With the Charts
10 Sep, 2012 By: John Latchem
The top new releases of Sept. 4 include Lionsgate’s actioner Safe, which grossed $17.1 million at the domestic box office, and Universal’s romantic comedy The Five-Year Engagement, which earned $28.7 million. Holdovers Battleship and The Hunger Games should continue to perform well.
On the rental chart, The Hunger Games is expected to emerge on top for a fourth consecutive week, while Safe should perform best among the newcomers. Universal’s The Lorax comes off its 28-day kiosk embargo, allowing it to rise into one of the higher chart spots.
