Projections: 'Lucy' Evolving Into Top Seller
26 Jan, 2015 By: John Latchem
Universal's sci-fi actioner Lucy is set to debut atop the home video charts following a $126.7 million run at the domestic box office. The film, directed by Luc Besson, stars Scarlett Johansson as a woman who gains powers over time and space after injesting a brain-altering drug.
Also looking for a strong debut is Universal's The Boxtrolls, an animated movie that earned $50.8 million in U.S. theaters.
Fox's Gone Girl should maintain a top spot as well, if it can hold off newcomers such as Warner's Annabelle.
On the rental chart, Universal's A Walk Among the Tombstones is poised to take over the top spot after debuting at No. 2 the previous week, pushing out Fox's The Maze Runner.
