Projections: ‘King's Speech’ Could Rule
2 May, 2011 By: John Latchem
With no new theatrical films hitting disc April 26, Anchor Bay’s The King’s Speech looks to be in the best position to snag the top spot. It is the highest-profile new release of the previous week, and the momentum of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 may have slowed after two weeks in stores.
King’s Speech should also perform well in rentals its second week out. Another Oscar winner, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Black Swan, made its debut at Redbox and Netflix April 26, which should be enough to push it up to No. 2.
