Projections: 'Dragon' Sequel to Tame Disc Sales
17 Nov, 2014 By: John Latchem
DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon 2 should find itself atop the home video sales charts for the week ending Nov. 16. The sequel grossed $176.8 million at the domestic box office and should have a strong family appeal.
Dragon 2 arrives at retail with a crop of high-profile but modest-performing new releases, including Warner's Tammy and Jersey Boys, and Fox's Let's Be Cops. Those films will compete for a top chart spot with what should be a strong second week for Disney's Maleficent.
On the rental chart, Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past is likely to rise to the top spot now that its 28-day holdback from Redbox is over.
