Projections: 'The Call' Seeks Some Attention
1 Jul, 2013 By: John Latchem
The second quarter appears to be closing with a whimper, as the top new release during the final week of June was Sony Pictures’ The Call. The thriller, which stars Halle Berry, earned $51.9 million in theaters, a respectable showing considering its meager budget but certainly not blockbuster numbers.
It did, however, perform considerably better than fellow new release The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Warner’s magic-themed comedy that grossed just $22.5 million.
Being the highest-profile new release puts The Call in line to top the rental chart for the week.
