Projections: 'Accountant,' 'Deepwater Horizon' Vying to Take Over Disc Sales
16 Jan, 2017 By: John Latchem
After several weeks of new titles barely making a dent on the home video sales charts, the week ending Jan. 15 looks to change things up with a slew of high-impact newcomers.
The top titles for the week appear to be Warner's The Accountant, an action-thriller that earned $86.26 million in U.S. theaters, and Lionsgate's Deepwater Horizon, a docu-drama with a $61.43 million domestic gross.
Also vying for a top chart spot are Universal's Kevin Hart: What Now? and its $23.59 million tally at the U.S. box office, and Fox's historical drama The Birth of a Nation, which earned $15.86 million.
The weekly rental chart will likely be topped by Deepwater Horizon, while Fox's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will move into a high spot now that its 28-day holdback from Redbox rental kiosks is over.
