Walt Disney Studio’s superhero action movie, Marvel’s The Avengers, is projected to dominate packaged media sellthrough in September — despite only hitting retailers on the 25th of the month — according to data from SNL Kagan.

Avengers, which is the third-highest box office release in history with more than $617 million at the domestic box office ($1.4 billion globally), is slated to ship more than 4.3 million DVDs for $86.8 million in wholesale revenue for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. The Blu-ray version should ship more than 4.9 million units for $132.4 million in wholesale revenue. Overall, The Avengers should ship nearly 9.3 million units and give Disney $219.2 million in video revenue, according to SNL Kagan.

Following behind, Snow White and the Huntsman (which streets Sept. 11 from Universal Studio Home Entertainment) is expected to generate $97.6 million in wholesale revenue from nearly 4.5 million units, which includes $43.4 million from DVD and $54.3 million from Blu-ray.

The remaining 44 DVD titles slated for release in September from all studios are estimated to average 230,000 units for $4.6 million each title in wholesale revenue, and the 44 Blu-ray titles are predicted to average 233,000 units for $5.8 million per title.
