Sony DADC U.K. Names New GM

Sony DADC United Kingdom has appointed Natasha Tyrrell as its new GM of distribution, charging her with heading the team tasked with rebuilding DADC’s U.K. supply chain, following the London riots that destroyed a DVD, CD and Blu-ray Disc distribution facility.
The Aug. 8, 2011, fires destroyed the U.K. distribution centre in Enfield, causing DADC to collaborate with fellow replicator Cinram and logistics company Cert Octavian to continue moving discs around to retail.
“With the events of last summer we needed a proven, hands-on performer to head our dedicated team and I’m pleased to announce our appointment of Natasha Tyrrell,” said Chris Reiser, EVP at Sony DADC International. “Natasha decided to join us before the fire happened and was then brought in at the heart of the disaster, earlier than planned. Instead of having time to get accustomed to her new role, she immediately engaged with customers and took charge of finding interim locations for our distribution operations and re-establishing services levels.”
Tyrrell takes over for Darren Houghton, who relocates to Australia and assumes the position of managing director of Sony DADC Australia. Tyrrell is based at Cert Octavian in Hoddesdon, one of DADC’s interim distribution facilities. She joins the replicator after holding numerous positions with Technicolor.
“I am more than excited to join this team and delighted at how quickly we were able to get back to business as usual after the fire,” Tyrrell said. “Our customers have been very supportive and understanding during the past months. I cannot thank them enough, and want them to be sure that we will continue to expand and develop our service offering to them in the years ahead.
“After the riots, we can see a positive outcome with significant growth potential in our UK operation fuelled by a combination of skilled and dedicated professionals and new state-of-the-art distribution facilities due to come online this summer,” she added.
