19 Jun, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey, Erik Gruenwedel

Redbox June 19 launched its first online affiliate program designed to attract new kiosk movie renters via third-party websites.

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Redbox bowed the program with Performics, a marketing agency owned by French-based ad agency Publicis Groupe.

Under terms of the campaign, third-party publishers in the affiliate program earn a commission each time a visitor clicks on a link to reserve a movie rental or buys a Redbox gift card.

The program, which will be expanded to include other online properties, represents the kiosk rental pioneer’s continued foray into digital marketing of its physical disc business.

Redbox affiliates receive custom banner ads, unique text links, detailed reporting, management tools and a dedicated support team. To apply to join the program, visit .

“Affiliate marketing is the next logical next step for Redbox, as it aligns nicely with our interactive marketing platform,” said Mark Achler, SVP of new business, innovation and strategy at Redbox. “This platform will benefit consumers as they can now gain more exposure to the new-release titles they want.”
