Warner Starts Production on Fourth 'Cinderella Story'

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment March 1 announced the start of principal photography on A Cinderella Story: If The Shoe Fits.

The musical, which is filming in Cape Town, South Africa, will star Sofia Carson (Descendants), Jennifer Tilly and Thomas Law (“EastEnders”). This installment finds main character Tessa (Carson) reduced to serving her stepmother (Tilly) and stepsisters while on vacation, until she meets a famous pop star (Law) looking for performers for his latest show, and takes on a new identity to hide from her family as she tries out.

Michelle Johnston, who choreographed and co-produced the first three installments, takes over as director.

The direct-to-video sequel is the fourth entry in the “A Cinderella Story” franchise. The 2004 original starred Hilary Duff and earned $51.4 million at the domestic box office, followed by direct-to-video sequels Another Cinderella Story in 2008, with Selena Gomez, and A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song in 2011, with Lucy Hale.
