‘Wizard of Oz’ Named Top Title of 2009

Warner Home Video’s The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition topped the winners list of the Sixth Annual DVD Critics Awards presented by Home Media Magazine.

The Wizard of Oz won three of the awards that cover the best home video releases of 2009: Best Catalog Title, Best Blu-ray Disc and Title of the Year. The catalog award was shared with another Warner film celebrating its 70th anniversary, Gone With the Wind. Both titles were released in elaborate, multidisc boxed sets with hours of bonus material and additional collectibles.

Best Theatrical Title went to Paramount Home Entertainment’s hit movie Star Trek. Paramount also took the Best Kidvid Title for DreamWorks’ Monters vs. Aliens.

The DVD Critics Awards are selected by a panel of judges consisting of journalists, reviewers and industry watchers, and chosen from a pool of titles submitted by studios.
