Warner Pairs Theatrical With Blu-ray for Elvis Title

For the remastered Blu-ray Disc release of Elvis: That’s the Way It Is, Warner Bros. will show the 1970 documentary in nearly 300 theaters nationwide, starting with an Aug. 16 screening at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis during the annual Elvis Week (Aug. 9-17).
The two-disc Blu-ray, streeting Aug. 12, includes a remastered version of the 2001 release of the film, with a new DTS-HD master audio 5.1 soundtrack and bonus features, as well as a DVD with the original 1970 theatrical version of the documentary. Also Aug. 12 Warner will release a 50th anniversary Blu-ray of Viva Las Vegas. Both releases include behind-the-scenes photos.
The Aug. 16 screening in Memphis includes the newly remastered film along with bonus features from the Blu-ray, and will include a live performance by Elvis’ Imperials members Joe Moscheo and Terry Blackwood. Tom Brown, VP of original productions for Turner Classic Movies, will host the event.
