Faith- and family-based films company Alliance Media Group Films has signed a five-year deal with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, giving Warner first look options for AMG content for DVD, TV and digital distribution.
The first film expected to be released under the deal is the 3D-animated The Lion of Judah, which will first see a 1,000-theater release this spring. The film features voice talent from Scott Eastwood (Invictus, Gran Torino), Michael Madsen (Donnie Brasco, Reservoir Dogs) and Ernest Borgnine (Red, The Wild Bunch).
“We are delighted this deal has come together and we welcome AMG’s high-quality slate of titles to the Warner Bros. library — starting with the charming and family friendly The Lion of Judah,” said Tom Lucas, VP of theatrical catalog marketing for Warner Home Video.
Tim Warren, President of AMG Films, commented, “This is a significant milestone in our young company’s history. We are excited to be partnering with Warner Home Entertainment Group for the release of The Lion of Judah and on our entire slate of animated and live-action films.”
Other films in development from AMG include the $30 million feature An African Tale; Bethlehem or Bust, a $12 million prequel to The Lion of Judah; the live-action surfer tale Perfect Wave; Heart of a Man, a $65 million feature about John Newton, an 18th century white seaman who was “gifted” to a West African princess as a slave; and Our Father, which was written by John Candy and was slated to star him prior to his death.
