Ken Burns’ groundbreaking documentary The Civil War has been remastered for its 25th anniversary and will be released on Blu-ray for the first time ever Oct. 13 from PBS Distribution.
The release also coincides with the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
The six-disc Blu-ray ($129.99), as well as a DVD re-release ($99.99), will include two hours of bonus features, including “The Making of The Civil War 25 Years Later,” uncut and re-mastered Shelby Foote interviews, and more. The program will also be available for digital download.
The Civil War originally aired on PBS in 1990, and as part of the celebration, PBS will show the 700-minute documentary during five consecutive nights beginning Sept. 7.
