‘Star Trek’ Reboot Launches on Disc Nov. 1717 Jul, 2009 By: John Latchem
Paramount Home Entertainment will release J.J. Abrams' $252 million box office hit Star Trek Nov. 17 (prebook Sept. 22) in three configurations: a single-DVD edition ($29.99), a two-DVD special edition ($39.99) and a three-disc Blu-ray ($39.99).
“For people who didn’t catch Star Trek in the theater, I hope they do now, as Paramount has done an exceptional job with his release,” Abrams said. “The picture and sound quality are both excellent.”
All versions include commentary, a making-of featurette and a gag reel.
The special-edition DVD and Blu-ray also include deleted scenes, additional featurettes, a Star Trek: D.A.C. Xbox 360 game trial, Web links and a digital copy, plus special packaging that unlocks a virtual tour of the U.S.S. Enterprise when held in front of a webcam.
The Blu-ray also includes additional “Branching Pods” featurettes, a Starfleet Vessel Simulator and BD Live “NASA News” access.
